Marley Contract Services has helped the developer of Cawdor Primary School, near Nairn in Scotland, maintain its unblemished school record.
That’s because Marley Contract Services, which fitted the roof of the new school building within schedule, played an integral part in ensuring that Morrison Construction was able to complete its fifth school in as many months, on time and within budget.
The new £4.7 million Cawdor Primary School is one of 11 new rural and urban community schools built by Morrison Construction under the Highland Council’s second education PPP scheme.
Morrison Construction is able to maintain its exemplary track record on the school building programme because it carries out a detailed and thorough evaluation before selecting a supply partner.
The company chose Marley Contract Services as its roofing partner for Cawdor Primary School because of its track record in completing other roofing projects to the highest quality standards, whilst working to the strict timescales expected on construction sites.
Morrison Construction also liked the manner in which Marley Contract Services embraced all health and safety aspects of the project. MCS carried out a thorough risk assessment before work commenced on any site as part of its established Safety Management System.
Cawdor Primary School was built on a new site just outside the town of Nairn. Keppies Architects specified grey concrete roof tiles, which were fitted by Marley Contract Services, to help the building sensitively reflect the predominant colours used in local architecture and because the site is in a conservation area..
Derek Chambers, Morrison Construction’s Project Director for the Highland Schools project, said: “The building is modern, spacious, well planned and fully equipped to deliver the whole curriculum, as well as providing a very high standard of care and welfare for the pupils. I am sure that it will play an active and central role in the lives of everyone living in the surrounding area.”
